Writing, to me, is a process of making sense of the world that resides inside and outside of me. Writing, to me, is how the mind digests. A way to break down big ideas and big feelings into smaller chunks and pieces, and ultimately, to extractable essentials. You consume and take in so much information constantly; always watching, listening, smelling, breathing, touching all kinds of things. And like food, not everything is meant to be absorbed into your body. Writing allows me to filter my thoughts and pick the nutrients vital for my well-being. Excrete out the junk and let waste pass through.
I think everyone has their own method of digestion. For some, it’s meditation. For some, it’s dancing. For some, it’s cooking (yes, the irony). Oh, and sleep is an integral part of this. I believe it’s the foundation to good health.
In recent digestion, I’ve been thinking about a few things:
Clarity
When you feel clear about something, you stop seeking out for validation or second opinions. When you, from the inside out, know what you want, you have no doubt or fear. You will simply know that it’s the right thing to do.
Shortcuts
I’m a lover of shortcuts. I get a lot of joy from discovering new combination of buttons or new meandering soi’s (a Thai word for small alleys) that help me get to my destination faster. Who doesn’t love a good sneaky shortcut that cuts your ETA from 9.56 to 9.53. But lately, I’m wondering, are shortcuts really worth it? What if you’re meant to walk through all those extra steps and take the extra time? Everything you do, every step you take leads you to where you need to be. Maybe you can’t go to level ten without clearing levels one to nine. Maybe you have to go through all the stages to really evolve. So I ask myself, what’s the rush?
Now
I was working on another project but was feeling quite jittery. I couldn’t really sit still and, somehow, it dawned on me that I just really want to write and send out something!
What is calling out to you now? What is it that can’t wait?
The Extractable Essentials
Living funerals
What if you get the chance to say farewell before you die? What would you say to your loved ones?

With presence,

I am a fan of always taking the long and winding path. You discover so much along the way!
